Configure general settings

Set an agent’s primary model, instructions, public widget availability, avatar, allowed domains, and deletion state.

Open Settings → General to configure the agent’s saved identity and customer-facing defaults. Reading requires agent-view access; changes require agent-edit access. The controls on this page save differently, so confirm which action you are using before leaving.

Save the main configuration

Agent Name, Model, System Instruction, Public, and Allowed Domains are saved together with Save Changes. The model defaults to GPT-5.2 when an agent has no saved model. The General form displays Public as enabled when no value is saved, but a newly created dashboard agent must save the page to persist that value for the external widget. The System Instruction defines your customization layer for role and behavior; changing facts belong in Sources.

When Public is disabled, the external embed widget does not render. It does not mean every authenticated dashboard or API path is disabled. Under Allowed Domains, enter one hostname per line to restrict external embedding. Leave the field blank to allow all domains. A listed host also covers its subdomains, so an entry such as example.com permits a subdomain of that host.

Manage the avatar

Avatar upload and removal happen immediately, separately from Save Changes. Upload an image MIME type under 4 MB. The page recommends a square image at least 200 by 200 pixels.

Schedule deletion safely

The Danger Zone is restricted to administrators. Deleting requires entering the exact agent name and schedules deletion for 30 days rather than removing it at once. An administrator can cancel the pending deletion during that window. Do not schedule deletion merely to hide an experiment until you have checked its active channels and source ownership.

Use Chat settings for opening behavior and Security for public access controls.
