Customize widget appearance
Configure the widget theme, launcher, brand colour, greeting, automatic opening, and legal links with a live preview.
Open Settings → Appearance to customize the external chat widget for one agent. Changes require agent-edit access. The page shows a live preview with the greeting, launcher, and chat-open states. Look at the preview to see the customer experience. Do this before you save your changes.
Choose the theme and launcher position
Select Light, Dark, or System for the theme. Place the launcher on the Left or the Right. These settings affect the widget on an eligible public customer surface. They do not affect the widget in the authenticated dashboard Playground.
Set the brand colour
Pick a Brand colour with the colour swatch, or type a 6-digit hex code such as #c2185b. The launcher, its shadow, your visitors' messages, the send button and links in the agent's replies take this colour. The preview shows it before you save. Select Reset to default to go back to the AgentStack blue, #0a84ff. The default avatar keeps the AgentStack orange.
The widget keeps text readable on any colour. It draws white text on the colour when white is clear enough, and near-black text on a pale colour. Links in replies use a darker shade of the colour when the colour itself is too light to read. The colour also shows in the Playground and the Deploy preview. You change it here, not in the embed snippet, so the widget on your site follows a new colour without an edit to your site.
Use the floating greeting carefully
The optional floating greeting is a whole-pill opener for the chat. It can contain up to 200 characters. It has no separate reply or dismiss action.
Set it to appear after 1 through 30 seconds. Set it to auto-hide after 3 through 60 seconds. Keep the message short. Do not present it as a completed support response.
You can also configure the chat to open automatically, with a delay from 0 through 60 seconds. An aggressive auto-open delay can help on a support page. The same delay can distract users on a marketing page. Test the auto-open delay on your site.
Add legal links
If your widget needs a legal link, enter a valid Privacy Policy / Terms URL. When you enter this URL, the widget shows a dismissible link above the chat input. If the URL is not valid, the page rejects it and does not save it.
Look at the preview. Then select Save Changes. Appearance settings do not replace Allowed Domains or Geographic Access. Those settings control whether a public visitor can load the widget.
